Charming setting
A charming restaurant among the Empordà vineyards
What makes Celler 1923 special isn't the décor, it's the setting: a farmhouse on the Peralada estate, surrounded by vines, inside a working winery.

The building
An arcaded farmhouse on a wine estate still in production
The dining room fills the estate's old farmhouse: vaulted ceilings, arches and windows onto the garden. Next door stands the new winery, designed by RCR Arquitectes — winners of the 2017 Pritzker Prize — and set half underground beneath the vines. It covers 18,200 m² and was the first winery in Europe to earn LEED Gold certification. The charm builds up: the old building, the new architecture and the vineyards around both.

How the seating works
A long shared table inside, a terrace outside
Best you hear it from us before you arrive: much of the indoor dining room is laid out as one long table shared with other guests. Plenty of people love it — each party keeps its own space — but it isn't what everyone expects. If you'd like more privacy, ask for the terrace and the entrance gardens when you book, especially late in the afternoon. And at the table, the wine comes from the estate: 5 Finques Blanc and Finca Malaveïna are both on the house list.
